Why
Sanada Genichirou and Atobe Keigo. Vice captain and captain of rival teams. Both of them proud and determined; the best at what they do. They're similar in many ways, but also completely different. While Sanada is stoic, spartan and strictly correct, Atobe is flamboyant, self-indulgent and narcissistic. Both boys draw attention, both live in the spotlight, but Sanada doesn't seek it out (he probably considers it a liability) while Atobe consciously goes out of his way to draw it and thrives in it.
They are in fact so different that it's safe to assume that if forced to spent any significant amount of time in each other's company, they would most likely drive each other batty. Atobe would think Sanada is too stuffy, and Sanada would think Atobe is too frivolous. Add to that the natural competetiveness of two of the top junior high shool tennis players, and they would be at each others's throats.
Anyone familiar with the Mechanics of Slash knows what that means. Unresolved sexual tension! And UST, of course, must eventually explode.
An explosion of Sanada x Atobe UST would be a beautiful, porntastic thing.
